Top tech gift suggestions for Christmas, 2017.

With Christmas just over two weeks away, and for those of us who either are still struggling to decide on a nice tech gift for that special someone, or a present for ourselves with our Christmas bonus (!), below are some gift ideas that should do the trick.

Apple iPhone

This year, 2017, has been a watershed for Apple. Not only did it release the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8S – the upgrades to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7S, respectively – it also released the iPhone X, which is claimed points to the future of the smartphone. The iPhone 8/8S are improvements of their predecessors, with better display, faster processing chips, and so might be a great gift for those new to the iPhone, or those for which a upgrade is long overdue. The Phone X, which is Apple’s most expensive phone to date is the best that the firm has to offer, for those who want to be on the cutting edge.

Google Wifi

Do you experience weak or even no Wi-Fi signal in parts of your home – even though you have a wireless router in your house to allow you to connect to the Internet? Google Wifi can solve this. These Wi-Fi routers can be easily interconnected to each other thus blanketing your entire home in a wireless network.

Apple Watch Series 3

When the latest Apple’s smartwatch was released people got excited. Not only does it have improved heart rate monitoring and fitness tracking, the series 3 now has its own mobile/cellular capability. You can now make and receive calls without having your iPhone being nearby and tethered to the watch. So, if you are puttering around your house and your iPhone is in another room, or if you are out for run, you will not miss that important call.

Amazon Echo

Intelligent personal assistants are all the rage these days, with Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa being among the most popular. Although Siri is available on virtually all Apple products, the Amazon Echo, which also feature Alexa, is more geared towards use at home. In that regard, and in addition to being smart speakers, Echo can also control several smart devices by acting as a home automation hub. Echo can also playback music, make to-do lists, set alarms, provide weather updates, and provide other real-time information.

Oculus – Rift + Touch Virtual Reality Headset

Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are getting a lot of attention as the area continues to develop. Currently, the Oculus Rift offers one of the best VR experiences on the market today. Gamers and movie lovers, in particular would truly enjoy such immersive experiences, and new application of the technology are emerging. Should you decide to get the Rift for yourself, or that special someone, do consider picking up the Oculus Touch controllers, to help you navigate the VR world.

Bonus!  Wireless chargers

Cannot always find your charging cables, or tired of having to find multiple sockets to charge your devices? Getting a wireless charger might be the answer. The most popular chargers for smartphone and other personal devices use Qi technology, and are produced by several manufacturers at a variety of price points. So, if you, or a loved one, have a Samsung, Apple, Google. Microsoft or Sony smartphone, to name a few, a wireless charger could be a much-welcomed present under the tree this Christmas.
